Of this photo session, I am most proud.
Avery Beth Sanders was born October 15, 2008 -- nearly three months before her original due date. She was delivered via emergency C-section due to her mama's HELLP Syndrome and severe preeclampsia. All the while, her Daddy was in Iraq, trying desperately to get home to see her birth. The doctors tried to postpone delivery until Daddy arrived, but they simply could not wait.
She weighed 2 pounds and 6 ounces upon delivery and was on a ventilator for 10 days. During her 57 day stay in the hospital, Avery suffered from a intraventicular hemorage (brain bleed), a hospital-born staff infection, ROP (retinopathy of prematurity),and was placed in isolation, where Mom and Dad could only touch her if they were wearing protective gloves and a gown.
She is now 6 pounds and 10 ounces and is considered to be our sweet, miracle baby. I suppose that is why this photo shoot and these images are especially poignant.
Enjoy!
